Leveraging Joint Resources
GSEFM is a joint initiative of Goethe University Frankfurt, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and Technische Universität Darmstadt (the "Rhine-Main-Universities"). Research projects at GSEFM benefit from premier research institutes and groups affiliated with/within the universities, such as the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE and the Institute for Monetary and Financial Stability, and the DFG research unit on Macroeconomic Implications of Intra-Household Decision Making.

As a distinguishing characteristic, the GSEFM degree programs enable students to draw upon synergies between frontier research in economics, finance, accounting and marketing to work in interdisciplinary format on scientific foundations for economic policy. GSEFM is located in the House of Finance on the Campus Westend of Goethe University in Frankfurt. Teaching and research at GSEFM also benefits from factors such as Frankfurt being the home of one of the world's premier financial centers and of two major central banks (the European Central Bank and the Deutsche Bundesbank). Research networks of GSEFM faculty members go well beyond the Rhine-Main region, and span universities and policy making institutions virtually around the globe. GSEFM Ph.D. students benefit from these networks and regularly complete research stays at German and international institutions where they can work with leading experts in their respective areas of research.
